no winners

I don't want a relationship that is a win-win situation, I want one that is a tie-tie. #valentinesday

dreading Valentine's Day......

Why does love end and leave you so blue.
The answer is simple - it never was true.

It's you...

In this post is a VERY OLD song, called "Love the one you're with", which is kind of a nice thought. BUT, taken a step further - really speaks to something very deep (at least in my opinion), which is that in this often vapid, materialistic, and VERY superficial world, you first have to love yourself - no matter how others may view you.
Be the best you that you can be. Self-love (to me), is the necessary component to being able to love others.
I don't mean being vain, but accepting you for you.

that's love

what is love?
My Father REALLY liked limburger cheese, my Mom could not stand limburger cheese (especially the smell)....to me, THAT is love. #love

a touching moment?

A girlfriend once told me I made her feel stupid. I told her it was up to her if she touched me or not. #relationships

Home Speech - Garden State

This scene from the movie "Garden State" is so touching to me. Especially the line, "it's like you feel #homesick for a place that doesn't even exist"....

That is how I feel, not because the people that made it "home" are gone, but who I was - is (gone).

love is like a tattoo

I've always been the kind of person that is selective in what I say and how I say/frame it.
Like I will never use the word love flippantly.
To me - love is like a tattoo...it is permanent. I never say it unless I truly mean it.
I can honestly say that anyone I said, "I love you" to, I still mean it. Perhaps in a modified way, but love none the less (in some cases - MORE).
How we express ourselves verbally is an amplification of what we say. Those who speak without attaching the truths of what they think and feel, are doing themselves and who hears it an injustice.

music that can heal...

This song by The Outfield (best known for their single "Your Love"), was yet another example of how music has been a vital part of my life. I know it's an oft used cliche, but so much music truly has been the soundtrack of/to my life.

This song though not a huge hit, really impacted my life. I was just in the middle of coming to terms with a crushing "breakup", and really wore this song out on my car's cassette player making the often long drive to and from work (sometimes traffic made it a 90 minute drive each way).

love.....

Unrequited love is like a broken boomerang.
I've had a few women break my boomerang in my life :-)

the good and the bad of relationships

I was once engaged to a woman who said she loved me more than life itself.
She was also suicidal.....

when nice isn't good (enough)?

I was thinking about an ex of mine (actually two exes), because they both gave me the same bizarre rationale for our breaking up.
Both said, "It's not you, you are a really nice guy...."
I wish I'd thought to tell each one, "Well tell me how to be bad and I'll try my best to treat you lousy".
It was just weird how two different women would break up with me using the same "compliment"?
